Paralegal Salary Guide
Wondering what you could potentially make as a paralegal? We’ve put together a short guide on paralegal salaries – from entry-level to senior positions.
What is the Average Paralegal Salary?
Paralegal salaries can vary depending on where in the UK you work. See below for an idea of variations depending on which region you’re based in.
|London||£26,000 - £42,000
|Midlands||£19,000 - £42,000
|North England/Scotland||£21,000 - £42,000
|West England/Wales||£17,000 - £42,000
Assistant Paralegal Salary
Assistant salaries range from around £17,000 – £23,000 per year. As with any role, pay tends to increase with more experience, and many assistants climb the career ladder and end up working as fully-fledged paralegals.
Areas of Specialism/Industry
As with solicitor roles, area of specialism has a huge bearing on the amount of compensation you’ll receive. The highest paying paralegal salaries tend to be seen in commercial, corporate and banking firms. For example, the average salary for a paralegal at a corporate firm is £32,315 (based on 200+ salaries). If you manage to get yourself a job at a tech firm with a legal department, you could also be in the top pay bracket for the role.
On the other hand, working in a less lucrative area such as human rights or criminal law, you will most probably earn less, but the work is likely to be extremely rewarding.
It’s also worth noting that working as a paralegal can often lead to a job as a trainee solicitor if you have the required solicitor qualifications. This means that your pay is likely to increase exponentially depending on which direction you see your career going in.
