Want to become a barrister and wondering where to complete your vocational component of bar training? (previously referred to as a BPTC course). You’ve come to the right place!

How to Choose a Bar Training Course

There are many factors to consider when considering training providers. For example, does the law school offer scholarships to assist with tuition fees? Do you want to study full-time or part-time? Is there an assessment day and what will that entail? For example, at some law schools, this assessment day may involve an essay-based exam, an interview or a mock court hearing speech. For the details of these assessments, as well as information on entry requirements and course structure, it’s important to look at the individual law school’s website.

Following the Bar Standards Board’s review of training for the Bar, the below courses have different names to the previous course (the BPTC). For more information on the change an what it means for bar training, visit our main vocational component page.

Please note that the information in this bar training providers comparison tool is checked and updated regularly to the best of our ability. However, the information may be subject to change and we therefore cannot guarantee the accuracy of all information at all times.

We recommend contacting the providers directly before making any significant course application decisions.
