Legal experience for a non-grad?

Hello all,

I would be grateful for some advice. I am a Languages and literature graduate, currently working at a personal injury law firm. As I am a non-law graduate, it is even tougher for me to gain experience at good commercial law firms which is where I want to gain experience. I have been working at a big firm for six months, and have recently been offered a position at a very small regional firm which has a strong reputation nonetheless. But the partner is more interested in training someone as an apprentice etc. I just do not know what to do. Should I stick to a big firm rather than a small firm to gain experience? And what can I do to gain commercial legal experience? Is the experience I am gaining at a big PI firm good and useful? What are the views about different ways of qualifying as a solicitor? And where should I position myself as a linguist/aspiring lawyer?

I look forward to hearing any views.
