SPARK by Clifford Chance offers an unparalleled opportunity for exceptional students in the early stages of their university careers to secure a training contract, through a bespoke programme. Read on to find out more and learn about SPARK student, Jas Sahota’s experience on the scheme.

Gain Practical Experience

During the five-day paid scheme, you’ll experience an intensive schedule of classroom-based learning, complemented with time spent shadowing lawyers in Clifford Chance’s practice areas, where you’ll be able to get stuck in with hands-on work experience. It’ll be fast-paced, dynamic and packed full of exciting opportunities.

Expect presentations on their practice areas, case studies, and seminars to develop your legal knowledge and commercial awareness. There will also be a variety of networking opportunities where you will meet representatives from all levels within the Firm. You’ll receive a £450 stipend for the week too.

SPARK Student Experience

Jas Sahota, SPARK student, shares her experience:

“My journey hasn’t been straightforward; I knew I wanted to get into law from a young age, but the timing just wasn’t right. Resilience and my determination to succeed is what has got me to this point. Clifford Chance is a place of opportunity, it is innovative and unique and not afraid to break the mould if it means attracting the best and most diverse talent. It’s a place I already know I can completely be myself. Which is why the SPARK scheme was a natural fit for me. Securing a place on the programme means I will have access to all the tools and resources I need to become a world-class lawyer. The additional option of interviewing for a Training Contract at the end of the scheme is amazing.”

Progress Onto A Training Contract

After the scheme ends, stand-out candidates are invited to apply for a place on a bespoke SPARK Training Contract assessment day. If you’re successful in securing a Training Contract, you’ll be matched up with a trainee buddy who will make sure that you’re connected with Clifford Chance throughout the rest of your time at university.

There is also the opportunity to take part in Clifford Chance’s award-winning LIFT internship, which is geared towards first year students. It offers paid summer internships to future trainees with a select number of organisations, with the sole aim of supporting your professional development.
