Episode three is the final of Clifford Chance’s film series Law In The Time Of Covid. It covers events of 2021, starting with the impact of the Kent variant on the employees.
Charlotte Madden was pursuing a promotion to Partner during this time, while also trying to complete six week’s worth of work in just three. In this episode she explains how the process for promotion had changed in the pandemic, and how she was supported by Clifford Chance.
The episode also explores the mental health challenges faced by colleagues at the Clifford Chance London office, who had to balance lockdown with an increasing workload, and how the firm supported them. For example, a Partner noticed that newly qualified Solicitor Mehjabin Ahmed was working late and reached out to check on her.
Olukayode Sonuga talks about how he felt an expectation to be online all the time when working from home, and what it was like to “be in the trenches” during this period.
Trainee Solicitor Saif Jalali also outlines how training contracts work at Clifford Chance, and the points system by which you are allocated seats. Watch the video below to discover how trainees bid for their seats, and what happens when you don’t get your first choice. Plus, find out more about how the firm has evolved over time to support women in the workplace – and how everyone is working towards an even more inclusive culture.
